Since becoming Chief Executive Officer of Miramont Behavioral Health in December 2025, Rick Ament, FACHE, has worked alongside employees, providers and community partners to shape a renewed vision for the organization. Over the past several months, that vision has begun taking hold – marking a new day at Miramont centered on clinical excellence, operational strength and compassionate, patient-focused care.
At the heart of this new chapter is a clear commitment: Every Moment Matters.
For individuals and families experiencing mental health challenges, the right support at the right time can make a meaningful difference. At Miramont, that understanding shapes every interaction – from the first call and confidential assessment to treatment, stabilization and the transition to continued care.
“Every moment we spend with a patient or family is an opportunity to listen, build trust and make a positive difference,” Ament said. “This is a new day at Miramont – one defined by accountability, collaboration and an unwavering commitment to the people who turn to us for help.”
During his first several months as CEO, Ament has focused on listening to employees, evaluating the organization’s operations and strengthening the foundation for sustainable improvement. This work has included supporting Miramont’s culture of care, enhancing the patient and family experience and building stronger relationships with healthcare providers, first responders and community organizations throughout Wisconsin.
Ament is a board-certified healthcare executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience across governmental, academic, rural and behavioral healthcare settings. He began his career as a hospital executive in the United States Air Force and spent much of his career leading rural community hospitals through transformation and operational improvement.
During his career, Ament successfully led two major hospital turnarounds as CEO and later served as Market Vice President overseeing 11 rural hospitals across four states. One hospital under his leadership was recognized as the Hospital & Health Networks Turnaround Hospital of the Year.
Driven by a strong commitment to serving Veterans, Ament also served as CEO of two U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers before retiring from federal service in 2023. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, an academic medical center with more than 750 medical staff members and affiliations with three medical schools. The organization trained approximately 1,700 medical and nursing students annually while serving more than 62,000 Veterans each year.
The medical center’s services included comprehensive behavioral healthcare and specialized support for approximately 1,400 Veterans experiencing homelessness. That experience further strengthened Ament’s commitment to expanding access, improving care delivery and creating environments where patients are treated with dignity and respect.
“My approach to leadership begins with service,” Ament said. “When we support our employees, strengthen our clinical systems and work closely with community partners, we are better equipped to provide the responsive, high-quality care our patients deserve.”
The progress underway at Miramont reflects a deliberate effort to build a stronger organization from within. By investing in its employees, clinical systems and community relationships, Miramont is working to ensure that patients and families receive compassionate, responsive care during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
This renewed direction builds upon Miramont’s inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services for adolescents, adults and seniors. Services include 24/7 no-cost confidential assessments, crisis stabilization, medical detoxification, psychiatric care, medication management, group therapy, Partial Hospitalization Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs.
